A "Minor" PAN card is issued to children under 18 years, typically showing no photo and the parent's signature. Once you turn 18, you must update this card to reflect your adult status (Major).

Why is this update mandatory?

A Minor PAN card is not valid for certain high-value financial transactions, including opening full-service bank accounts, applying for loans, or starting a business. The Income Tax Department requires a fresh photograph and your modern signature to consider the card "operative."

The Major Upgrade Checklist

1. Form 93: You will use the standard individual application form.
2. Photo Proof: Two clear passport-sized photos are required.
3. Signature: Your new, official signature will be captured and printed on the card.
